121 Tollway Public Hearing

I attended the public hearing in Plano regarding the sale of the 121 tollway to Cintra for $2.1 billion. As most know, this public hearing was more show than substance as the deal was announced the following day. A Tx Dot spokesman essentially read a prepared document regarding the plan. Following an intermission, 4-5 concerned citizens voiced their opinion followed by applause.

Outside of the employees required to be there, only probably 2 dozen citizens showed up along with Mayor Simpson and City Manager George Purefoy.

The Mayor Gets Roasted!

We attended the Mayor’s Roasting benefitting the Frisco Miracle League on Saturday night. Although the roasting of the Mayor was comical, the highlight of the night came from the National Anthem….one of the most moving I have ever heard. The young gentleman who sang had the room in tears.

Perhaps the best roasting came from Maher Maso whose photoshop photos of the Mayor were very funny. Although the video of the Mayor’s Elvis impersonation gave him a run for his money.

Joy West and Sandy Simpson finished the night off by announcing that the field was to be named the E. Mike Simpson Field.

Frisco Education Foundation starts application review

I am so honored to serve on the Board of the Frisco Education Foundation. The Foundation’s Mission is:

The Frisco Education Foundation, in partnership with the Greater Frisco Community, provides financial resources to maximize the potential of students of the Frisco Independent School District through the awarding of educational scholarships and innovative grants.

Today we reviewed all of the application’s of the students. I am amazed at all of the extraordinary students each and every year. We finalized as a Board the students that would be interviewed which begin the first week of March. Each student is so unique and talented in many different ways that we want to give a scholarship to everyone.
